Spellblade Invocation & Enchanter Pets

David's primary combat mode: melee with spell-procs and your WAR/PAL animation pet.

Core Loop

You are the tank (Paladin plate + Defensive stance). Your Spellblade Invocation makes your melee swings proc spells. Your Enchanter Animation pet (WAR/PAL) adds damage, self-heals, and buffs itself. You control the fight, the pet adds damage.

Spellblade Invocation

Spellblade is a caster invocation available to hybrids (Paladin qualifies). Per the EQL Wiki: "Treats the first spell-gem slot (must be a spell with a reuse time ≤ cast time) as a proc that consumes both mana and endurance (33% of the normal spell mana cost)."

When active, every melee swing has a chance to proc the spell in your top gem slot. The spell remains castable — it is not consumed.

Enchanter Summoned Pets

Since you are not using Charm, your pet comes from the Animation spell line — animated weapons that fight for you.

Pet Base Class: WAR/PAL

Your pet is a Warrior/Paladin dual-class. It has Cleave (AoE melee), Lay on Hands (self full heal), heals (you or itself), and HP buffs (itself). It is a self-sufficient mini-Paladin that adds damage while you tank.

Pet Combat Strategy

Since YOU Tank

You hold aggro with Paladin stuns + Spellblade procs in Defensive stance. Your pet is free to add DPS without worrying about pulling aggro. Equip it with a DD proc weapon (Wakizashi of the Frozen Skies) rather than a hate proc. The pet will self-heal using its Paladin abilities, reducing the healing pressure on you and Christy's Cleric.

  1. Summon Juli's Animation at level 4 — keep it active always
  2. You tank in Defensive stance with Spellblade active
  3. Pet adds DPS — equip with DD or snare proc weapon
  4. Pet self-heals — WAR/PAL pet casts Lay on Hands + periodic heals automatically
  5. You off-heal — Paladin heals to top up between pet self-heals
  6. Upgrade at each tier — Boltran's at 34, Yegoreff's at 44, Kintaz's at 49
