Gearing & Items

EQL gear systems, stat priorities, and where to find equipment during the beta.

⚠️ EQL-Specific Data Only

All information here comes from EQL-specific sources only (eqlwiki.com, official FAQ, beta news). Classic EverQuest / Project 1999 item data does not apply — EQL has its own itemization with adjusted stats, new items, and unique drop tables. Specific item names, stats, and drop locations must be discovered in the July 1 beta.

EQL Gear Systems (Confirmed)

Gear Upgrade to +10

Items can be upgraded from +0 to +10 via two methods:

Exaltations

Replaces classic vendor augments. Allows you to merge focus effects, proc effects, and appearances between items. Haste is not an Exaltation — it remains a separate item stat.

Planar Gear

Planar-quality gear (Plane of Hate, Plane of Fear, Plane of Sky) is no-trade. Pre-planar gear is tradable. Stats cap at 510. No level requirements on gear currently planned.

The "Any" Slots

Two inventory slots that bypass normal slot restrictions. Confirmed uses: shields (full AC value), breastplates (stat stacking), weapons (piercer for backstab while using a different main hand).

Instrument Focus Items

In EQL, instrument focus items are all/all — any class can equip and use them. The Bard Epic (when craftable) counts as ALL instrument types.

Stat Priorities by Combo

David: Bard + Paladin + Enchanter

You wear plate armor (from Paladin). Stat priority:

  1. Charisma (CHA) — Affects Bard lull songs, Enchanter charm tick checks. Both classes want this high.
  2. Wisdom (WIS) — Paladin mana pool for heals, stuns, and buffs.
  3. Stamina (STA) — HP. You are the primary tank in the duo.
  4. Intelligence (INT) — Enchanter mana pool for CC and buffs.
  5. Dexterity (DEX) — Reduces Bard song fizzle, affects weapon procs.
  6. Strength (STR) — Carry capacity and melee damage.

Christy: Cleric + Necromancer + Wizard

Wears plate armor (from Cleric). Stat priority:

  1. Wisdom (WIS) — Cleric mana pool. Primary healing throughput.
  2. Intelligence (INT) — Necromancer and Wizard mana pools.
  3. Stamina (STA) — HP. All three are casters; survivability matters.
  4. Dexterity (DEX) — Reduces spell fizzle chance.

Gear Farming Zones (EQL-Confirmed Zones)

EQL launches with all classic zones on Antonica, Faydwer, and Odus, plus Plane of Fear and Plane of Hate. The zones exist — the specific item drops are what must be discovered. These zones are confirmed at launch:
